How should I use my incense?

Smudging is a spiritual and mental process in which having a clear intention is as important as the presence of your elements. Having your intention defined will make it much easier to decide which is the ideal incense for the occasion. Once you have it clear, open doors and windows; this will allow all the negative energy to leave and positive energy to enter in its place.

Now you are ready.

Light your incense with a candle, match or lighter, always using circular movements in a clockwise direction. Guide the smoke towards what you wish to purify. You can use a feather or a fan.

Begin the purification or cleansing with yourself, taking the smoke from your incense from your feet to your head, and from there returning to your heart. Remember to always use circular and subtle movements.

It's your space's turn: start from the front door and move clockwise, passing through every corner, window and nook.

You decide when your ritual ends. When you are ready, you will know. So, take a deep breath and take a few minutes to ground your thoughts. You can close by repeating your favorite mantra with the help of your Japa Mala, or simply thanking the universe for all the blessings that have come and those that will come.

Remember that your intentions are the basis of any incense. If your heart is pure and your desire is noble, you will enhance its effects.
